How can you apply the notion of reduce to your own design process? (give a specific example)
My designs are solely graphic based. If I create designs that are minimalistic, nothing that is to complex or intricate then I can overall benefit my outcome. Specifically the practical that we were given on the 26th for the 3D class, to design a bag for a design student. My design Is minimalistic but it has maximum impact. A simple but effective design.
From what you have read in Chapter 1, explain the relationship between complexity and simplicity (give 3 specific examples from the book OR your own experiences)
Complexity and Simplicity are always going to be entwined. Although they can exist without the other, design is better when it considers both of the parties involved and whatever area of design it is coming from.
1. For example those Apple guys who invented the iphone, it is extremely complex; however it has greatly benefited mankind by making everything simpler to use.
2. Using the web, search engines make everything 50 billion times easier and theyre databases are complex.
3. Windows media player. Need I say more? The WORST media storage program ever! itunes has simplified eveything into a basic functioning media program that is very easy to use!
I found the following video on Youtube. Its of John Maeda talking on TED!

We felt that these were good groups to break everyone up in.
