Today,
We Looked at the Second Chapter of John Maeda's The Laws of Simplicity, titled Organise. Also, we looked at body language and how to communicate soley with our facial expressions and body.

In the future I hope it looks like this...
1. What does the acronym SLIP mean according to Maeda?
Sort, Label, intergrate and prioritise. A way of organising simply to maximise productivity.
2. Define each character of the acronym, S L I P in one sentence
Sort the Variables, label each accordingly, intergrate the relatives and prioritise in order.
3. What does Maeda say is only a pinkie away?
The easiness of tab form.
4. Why is this important to us as designers?
Putting things in tabular form is easier and more efficient for all areas of design.
5. What are the principles of gestalt psychological theory?
It is in our nature as humans organise everything in our heads to make it make sense. Maeda talks of the ipod and how the progression to the ultimate functionality lead to its simple but complex look as much as its popularity.
6. Where might one find the aesthetics of blur?
They are very common in the history of art, Maeda specifically mensions impressionism in light of the "tiny brushstrokes".
7. Why is blur important in interactive design?
If there are many factors that are involved or things you want to incorporate, you can use the blur principle to give the idea the appearance of something simpler.
8. Why do good designers squint when they look at something?
Because they know that they will see more by seeing less. It gives the illusion of the nakedness to give the designer the ability to see the unnecessary.

We were asked to assess what each of the following body language elements and determine the possible feelings or words behind the actions:
1. A person nods his/her head up and down
Generally it means yes, however it is offensive in some cultures.
2. A person’s lower lip trembles slightly
Upset, close to tears, cold or nervous.
3. A person smiles slightly
Polite smile, patronising, hello smile
4. A person yawns
bored, tired, contagious yawn.
5. A person shrugs his/her shoulders
dont care, dont know, uneasy, confussed
6. A person inhales quickly
shock, out of breath, scared, excited.
To me, being able to read each other is important and very helpful on a daily basis, this video I found on the royals engagement mishaps with the media was quite unlike daily life and it was quite amusing.
Good work Josie. You have addressed everything well in a clear concise manner. Good observations.
