Was the first Collaboration class of the semester! We talked about 3 elements that are essential to run a project successfully. These elements are Cooperation, collaboration and communication. We also discussed the unit information and the first task, a portfolio.
Today we did two practical exercises.
The First: Ethical Behaviour...
My Messy Notebook :) |
So, our task was to sort these 8 characteristics :
1. acknowledging discomfort or anger
2. being prepared to fully participate
3. communicating in an open way
4. honesty
5. honouring commitments 6. sensitivity to social, cultural, personal situations and dynamics
7. showing respect
8. Understanding of the consequences of actions
Then we had to add two of our own :
1. Communicate with logic and reason
2. Be open to others critique & advice
And sort the ten characteristics into two groups:
1. Essential
2. Secondary

1. Would you volunteer your money - that is, take risk?
Depends on what my money was being volunteered for and how much money i was volunteering.
2. How did you feel?
I didnt give money cause i didnt have any, however i saw the hesitant look on other peoples faces.
3. Did you feel a little sheepish?
Looking at how easily people gave theyre money up?
nope, i thought it was quite odd
nope, i thought it was quite odd
4. What about when the ante was upped to ten dollars?
I wouldnt give 10 dollars away, As silly as that sounds, my reasons to give money away would have to be good ;)
5. Twenty?
hahaha, no. I wouldnt give 20 dollars up easily :)
6. Did you think the volunteers were foolish?
No because they knew they would get it back as it was just an exercise :)

Our exercise involved us to look into eachothers eyes and unlock trust.
My first partner was rachel and i could barely keep a straight face.. i was uncomfortable and i didnt like it at all.
1: Ethical Behaviour
I was prepared to fully participate and show respect to everyone, i acknowledged discomfort and the exercise helped me communicate in an extremely open way.
2: Trust

2: Trust
I trusted my emotions and i did not like how uncomfortable i was feeling. I really disliked this part of the exercise.
This was even more awkward however it was a little easier than the last one...
1: Ethical Behaviour
I was willing to fully participate and show respect to everyone. Again, I acknowledged discomfort and the exercise helped me communicate in an open way allowing me to connect with my fellow peers.
Trust:
This exercise made me feel a tad uncomfortable as generally we just communicate ( peers and I ) verbally and NOT physically. This was deffinately odd but it did make me feel a little more trusted as I trusted others more.

This exercise was the most difficult for me as i have never been so close to my peers. The further away they were the easier it was however the closer they were the harder it was, it was still uncomfortable even though we id look at eachother for longer than 5 minutes.

Same as before:

Hell yeah! This exercise made me trust my peers more, because we were in such close proximity.. after the first 20 seconds everything was better!

Overall..
Today was pretty fun, I learned how to be uncomfortable and how to trust.
