Week 7 Origination

John Maedas The Laws Of Simplicity

1. What does the word ENTROPY mean and why is this relevant?

Disorder- impulse – Energy declining – downward spiral -

2. If you are attuned to everything around you, does it help you deal with what is in front of you and why or why not ?

Yes, somehow the simplest of answers can be in your surroundings, also your surrounds can also be a problem

3. How is this different from FOCUS ?

Its like when Maeda was talking about the white room in paris and when the sushi came out and the green leaf made him focus attention on what hes eating and not his surroundings.

4. Being comfortably lostis a balance between what 2 feelings?

Anticipation and Uncertainty.

5. Describe a recent scenario when you found yourself to be comfortably lost. Did you enjoy the sensation?

Learning things at my new job, I was comfortable with my surrounding and I didn’t feel any sense of confusion however I was lost as it was not Savvy with everything.

6. If you couldnt hold back the urge to write on the dont write on this pagepage – what would you write?

My thoughts on the chapter, SPECIFICALLY – “Hahahah.. I wrote on it Maeda!”

We watched a Video of TED's Eric Berlow, talking about simplicity. Maedas kinda guy :)

Edward de Bono’s “6 Thinking Hats”

White Hat – The Data Hat
Red Hat -  The Intuition Hat
Black Hat – The Critical Hat
Yellow Hat – The Positive Hat
Green hat – The Creative Hat
Blue Hat – The Practical Hat

1. Which HAT best represents your group?

The Creative Hat

2.Why?

As My Group is the Design team, we are incorporating the other hat aspects and creating a design.

3. Describe an Exhibition Group meeting where you may adopt the BLACK hat

In A group meeting you my need to be critical to ensure that a task stays on track.

4. In your blog write 6 labelled paragraphs on your group’s progress to date, using each of the 6 hats as a perspective.

White Hat – The Data Hat
The objectives that we need to complete are the headline and the posters and such. To do this we will need last years information to compare and get some help off.

Red Hat -  The Intuition Hat
Working on a headline reminds me of when I had to design an invitation for my year 9 graduation.

Black Hat – The Critical Hat
When we attempt to create a logo i think its important for us to comtinually think "is it okay for print ?" That way we only have to be critical on the design and not its suitability.

Yellow Hat – The Positive Hat
Even though we'll all have some good designs we should make sure when we create the logo we should tell eachother what we like about each part as well as the negative that way when we refine our designs with the positive feedback.

Green hat – The Creative Hat
When designing the logo we should brainstorm common elements that are pertinent to the logos outcome.

Blue Hat – The Practical Hat
We should stay on deadlines to ensure we are on track to maximise our production rate of both the exhibition promotions and our own work.

OVER AND OUT!
